Impressions of Wesak Day 2011 preperation
Wesak Day will be celebrated by the Buddhist devotees tomorrow evening and on 17 May 2011. There will be parade from Brickfield to Bukit Bintang on Tuesday evening (6pm). This morning (15 May 2011), the Buddhist Maha Vihara temple was all set for the big celebration.
This was my first visit to this temple founded by Sinhalese (Sri Lankan) community.
The temple was founded in 1950s, and I could notice that it has unique Buddhist temple structure, very different from the Chinese or Thai Buddhist temples.
The temple compound was all set for tomorrow and the main Wesak day celebration. I wish the weather will be good for the devotees to have a successful and meaning celebration. Buddhists often offer flowers and fruits as offerings.
There were plenty of Indian flower stalls nearby.
May everyone has a peaceful and enlightening day.
(notice the NO ENTRY forbidden sign and luxury car behind the scene. Everyone has something to pray for, hopefully is world peace).
Buddha was one the greatest teachers I truly respect. May his teaching brings more good to humanity.

Dear Tennysoonlee,

Regards,
Jan

Hi Jan,
Yes. There will be several parades organized by different communities (so I read from The Star). The major parade should be in KL (organized by ) and Penang.
Thanks to JAF, who had mapped out the route on Google map. Check out the schedule and route here.
