Mid-Autumn Lantern Festival 2011

Playing with candles and lanterns brought back lots of childhood memory.

There are more plastic lantern operating on battery than the traditional candle lit wire-shaped lantern.

The scene above was fading from big city. There were very few shops in Petaling Street that sell these traditional lanterns. Most shops sell contemporary lanterns.

Some lantern ‘characters’ I have never seen before, like lobster (or Angry Bird).

There are some people like to construct their own lantern.

Some using recycle materials, and some keeping the traditional lantern look.

I remembered the old days when I use bamboo or Milo tin can to build crude lantern, and then set it on fire before going to bed (so that next year I have new one).
