Malaysia Cocoa and Chocolate Day 2011
I love chocolate so this event had been listed in my calendar for a while.
The organizer invited the government agency to educate public about cocoa agriculture, so it was good education for ‘kid’ like me.
Actually my mind was just thinking about the end products …
Luckily I am visiting the Tulip booth (selling chocolate of course), and can watch the foreign chef making chocolate cake. The first layer was filled with juicy blueberries.
And then top up with another layer of hot chocolate.
The nice marketing lady pity my hungry soul and offer me samples, including a very large cup of chocolate fudge cake. This was the most luxury ‘sample’ I ever have in any exhibition. She made my day. Below is one of the sample chocolate cake on display at Tulip’s booth.
I ventured to other booths but the expo was relatively small exhibition. If you plan to skip lunch by feeding onfree samples, then you would be disappointed.
There was some kind of chocolate sculpture or decoration competition, but the works on display were very far from the visitors. You need a very long zoom lens to see anything (what is the point when most of the visitors were using their phone cameras). I would say only this piece can consider sculpture, others were simply stack of sweets and chocolate (with their product wrapping on).
If you like chocolate, there were some interesting variety like Durian Chocolate, Cempedak Chocolate etc. on sales.
More than 100,000 people are visiting Mid-Valley Mega Mall this weekend not for this cocoa expo but for the event opposite the exhibition hall – Kuala Lumpur Photography Fair 2011. That is the event of the year for local photography hobbyists and professionals.
