Sri Kandaswamy Kovil Temple

We started the heritage walk trail at Brickfields from Sri Kandaswamy Kovil Hindu Temple.

This was not my first visit to Little India in Kuala Lumpur, so I did not join the heritage walk organized by Kuala Lumpur City Hall. The free tour takes plance every Saturday. Registration form can be downloaded from VisitKL website.

Sri Kandaswamy Kovil temple is one of the prominent Hindu temples in Malaysia.

The signature architecture will be the intricate carvings of the gopuram (towered gateway at the entrance).

Unlike the photo friendly Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Petaling Street, Sri Kandaswamy Kovil Temple prohibits photography.

I have only taken few snapshots and did not visit the interior compound.

This coming week is the Deepavali celebration, so many devotees will be visiting the local temples.

Brickfields is an unique with its high concentration of worship venues like churches, masjids, temples in relatively small community. Even though some may not like conditions on certain streets, there are still plenty of places to offer people a peaceful getaway from the bustling world.
