Thaipusam 2013 (Part 2)
While driving to Batu Caves, I am thinking on what kind of images should I take at the Thaipusam Festival.
I did not go inside the Batu Caves compound today. I am lucky to meet 2 groups of devotees whom I have taken picture on the previously year. So I though I should take the opportunity to record down the entire preparation process.
Thaipusam 2013 (part 1)
I have 2 surprised encounters today at Batu Caves. I met them again after I took some pictures of their preparation to set forth the journey to the cave temple. So I will dedicate the 2 parts posting to their family members and friends.
The preparation started before dawn. The sky was still dark.
On the Eve of Thaipusam 2013
Tomorrow, the serene cave temple will be awaken by the peak traffic of devotees. A pigeon was quenching its thirst on a pool of water dripping from the rock surface. The colourful reflection was the Lord Murugan Temple inside the inner cave chamber.
Over 1.5 million devotees will be streaming from surrounding temples to Batu Caves, in a single day.
The celebration started 12 midnight (26 January 2013) when the silver chariot procession made its way from Sri Maha Maariamman Temple in Kuala Lumpur. I saw the long procession at Jalan Kuching just now. It reached Batu Caves by 2pm. The celebration started today and last for 3 days.
Trick Art Museum @ i-City
Just now we had a family outing with my colleagues. The venue was at the City of (man-made) light, i-City. So we were having fun at the Trick Art Museum and Snow Walk.
Due to privacy rules, I did not like to reveal too many photos of friends, families or co-workers in this travelogue, so I sacrificed to show human interaction with some of the trick arts.
Chinese New Year is sneaking in
Petaling Street is always in the fore front of indicators for Chinese New Year, even earlier than shopping malls.
All the gifts shops are ready for another seasonal sales of Chinese New Year ornaments.
