East Coast (Peninsular Malaysia)
This is our annual weekend trip to Kota Bharu.
We tried our best to squeeze out an hour for a detour to Pantai Cahaya Bulan (Moonlight Beach), about 30 minutes from town center.
The objective is to visit a hidden gem near PCB, the Pasir Belanda Resort. It is a local village (‘kampung’) style small resort inside the local village. This resort is very popular among the European tourists.
We took the Gua Musang route from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu.
Due to tight schedule, we made less stop than usual road trip.
We have our descent breakfast at the famous Restoran Ratha (famous for its curry fish head). On the way to Kuala Lipis, we made a quick stop over at Jeram Besu.
Many tourists like to do white water rafting at the rapid stream.
On our return trip, we spent a day at Pulau Redang. In order to catch the afternoon ferry from Kuala Terengganu jetty (Terminal Penumpang), we cut short our usual coastal road trip.
Kampung Penarik is one of my favourite fishing villages along T1 coastal road.
There are not many local villages where we can still find the traditional wooden houses built among the coconut trees, and backed with blue sky white cloud.
Normally, it will take me entire day to travel the 2.5 hours distance.
The character-less highway is just too monotonous for me. Travel at fast pace would miss meeting friendly folks like this villager.
Another stretch of my favourite coastal roads is Route 3 from KT to Kuantan. Today I took Route 14 and missed the opportunity to visit the nice coastal towns (again).
