101 Lost Kittens 一百零一只迷失的小猫

I love the innovative campaign title, “101 Lost Kittens”.

It was a treasure hunt and animal awareness campaign in George Town (Penang).

Suddenly, people are crazy about cats in George Town. My favourite piece of art is the Bruce Lee and 3 kittens.

All the kittens were lost along Victoria Street.

The campaign adds more excitement on top of the already  successful "Mirrors George Town” series of murals by Ernest Zacharevic”.

It was fun activities for tourists to hunt for the lost kittens on foot or on bicycle.

Visitors have to thank a group of artists:

  • Natthaton Muangkliang (Thailand)
  • Louise Low (Kuala Lumpur)
  • Tang Yeok Khang (Bukit Mertajam)

The objective of the campaign is to raise awareness to care for the stray animals.

(note: there is another kitten on the left, you can see its tail)

I suspect the side effect of the campaign, i.e. boosting tourism to the UNESCO World Heritage Site (George Town).

Besides murals, the series also have some interesting display arts.

Opposite the fat cat is another lost kitten on wired sofa.

We actually saw a big fat rat (live) that was not afraid of human.

After discovering 101 kittens, we also saw #102 lost kitten at the bicycle stall.
