Carnival at Pasir Gudang (Kite Festival)
The traffic around Bukit Layang-Layang during the World Kite Festival (18-23 February 2014) was jam packed.
The locals swamped to the festival not merely for the flying kites, but the carnival like stalls on the hillside.
There were over hundred stalls but not many surprises as they were selling standard night market goods.
The Desaru Orchard put up a fruit tree.
KFC and Pizza Hut were one of the event sponsor but their stall did not open until 10am. We ended up having Nasi Lemak at another stall.
There were few stalls selling Sup Tulang (Bone Soup).
It is a local delicacy with ingredient such as cow organs and bones.
If you are looking for more traditional Malay cuisine, you could be rewarded with many options.
I loved the pineapple but ironically, these were Philippines pineapples (Johor is the largest producer of pineapples in Malaysia).
There were many other stalls selling snacks.
I am surprise to see this stall selling biscuit in the traditional tin cans.
The adult were prepared to bring home few kites or other accessories.
There were also go-cart and playground for the kids.
I am yet to visit another kite festival held at Kelantan. Perhaps I could see more Wau Bulan and Keropok Lekor in Kelantan.
